Jamaat Ahmadiyya al Mouslemeen FRIDAY SERMON of Hazrat Amirul Momeneen Zafrullah Domun 11 March 2011 At
Bait-ul-Rahma Mosque
After
reciting the Tashahhud, the Ta’uz and the first chapter of Al Fatiha Imam Zafrullah Domun said: Hazrat
Masih Maoodas saw a very bright future for Jamaat Ahmadiyya. There
is a famous extract of his writings that
is often quoted to show how Ahmadis will excel in future. He says: Almighty Allah has revealed to me
that He will make my community to prevail over other communities. My followers
will excel over others in knowledge and wisdom because of the light of the
truth, arguments and signs of Divine support, and will render the opponents speechless…(Tajalliate
Ilahiyya p17) From
this extract it is quite clear that Hazrat Masih Maoodas has said
that his followers will make enormous progress in knowledge and marifat
which we usually translate by wisdom. But ma’rifat is more than wisdom.
When we speak of ma’rifat we speak of knowledge of Allah which a
believer gets in his heart and which guides his actions. We also learn from
this extract that members of Jamaat Ahmadiyya will have the light of truth, the
light of arguments and the light of divine support with them. They will shine
so much with these light that all their opponents will become speechless. This
is a divine promise. It has to be true for all times to come for all the
followers of the Promised Messiah, Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad as. And
the Promise of Allah is always true for His true Lovers. From
this extract we may also infer that whenever and wherever there will be a
controversy between Ahmadis and their opponents, the Ahmadis should win if they
are guided by the teachings of Hazrat Ahmadas. The contrary also is
true. If Ahmadis start losing in front of their opponents then these words
cannot be true, Allah forbids. Therefore if Ahmadis genuinely know what their
leader Hazrat Ahmad taught them they cannot fail to win the day with any
opponent. Hence we may also conclude that what Hazrat Ahmad has taught is a
very powerful weapon against all those who oppose his teachings. These
days Jamaat Ahmadiyya International is still having some problems with its
opponents of always in some Muslim countries. But unfortunately these opponents
are not quite keen to discuss with the representatives of the Jamaat on the
controversial issues. However on the net there is a vociferous group who are
attacking the Jamaat and we should say that from the Jamaat’s side the response
is quite weak. It should not have been so
but it is. However
within the Jamaat recently some controversies have cropped up and according to
the extract that we have quoted above the mainstream Jamaat which claims it has
a caliph and is divinely guided and presents itself as the custodian of the
spiritual heritage of Hazrat Masih Maoodas should have been most
forward in arguing against all those who are presenting a different perspective
on Ahmadiyyat. But what do we see. The mainstream Jamaat has crawled in its
shell and it remains silent and avoids all types of discussion or debate of
ideas. Robot like they claim “we have khilafat and that is sufficient and we
are not concerned with anything else.” But did Hazrat Masih Maood as
expect such a behavior from us? He says that Allah has told him that his
followers will always have the last word on any controversy. His opponents will
back down speechless. But these days who is accepting retreat speechless? It is
they who say that they are his most sincere followers. Can you imagine? The
majority guided by a caliph who says he is divinely guided cannot help his
followers with the controversies that have recently risen within Jamaat
Ahmadiyya. He has become speechless. He has nothing to say. He does not know
what to say. Why? Because those who according to him are against the teachings
of Hazrat Ahmad as has made the caliph, his amirs and missionaries
speechless. Therefore we can easily infer from this situation that the words of
Hazrat Ahmadas will remain true and his true followers will make
others speechless and those who become speechless are not his true followers! Last
week the amir of Mauritius who has recently been the subject of a financial
investigation initiated by the caliph announced in his Friday sermon that since
I did not appear to respond to his call to invite the wrath of Allah upon
myself he will not continue to discuss about the matter. For him the case is
closed. But from Hazrat Masih Maoodas we understand that his
followers do not close any case. His followers close the mouth of others, so to
say with “the light of truth, arguments and signs of Divine support”. Since we
are still in the field and we are asking the amir, his missionary in charge and
all those who support them to refute our arguments, they cannot leave the field
of contest if they are the true followers of Hazrat Masih Maoodas.
If they do so and since we claim that we are the true inheritors of Hazrat
Masih Maoodas and they are not, it is clear as the day that we have
made them speechless. It is the true followers that make their opponents
speechless. The
second point which I want to make about his announcement is that as usual the
amir has tried to confound the truth and mix it with falsehood. By the Grace of
Allah we have been endowed with such courage that we are not at all afraid to
speak the truth whatever the circumstances. My friends and I have too much fear
of Allah in our heart to think that we are doing something that He might not
see. We are conscious of the Presence of Allah and we try our best not to
commit an evil act because we know that Allah is seeing us. How many on the
other side can say the same thing? I leave it to them to answer. We are
truthful people and we try to cultivate this quality in our young ones also.
From the teachings of Hazrat Masih Maood as we understand that we
should stay in the company of the truthful and we should avoid what is false.
It is a well known fact that within the mainstream Ahmadiyya Jamaat in
Mauritius there is no deficit of money but there is a deficit of guidance. It
appears that groups are at one another’s throats and that anonymous letters are
crisscrossing between many people. As I have said my friends and I say what we
have to say without any fear but that of Allah. If we write a letter we sign
it. Personally I have never written an anonymous letter in my life and I think
it is the same with my brothers and my other friends. They all have the courage
of their opinions especially when we have to say something about the mainstream
Jamaat. But the amir Jamaat of Mauritius is not known for being a person who
speaks his mind fearlessly. So in order to recapture his lost reputation within
the Jamaat he has tried to associate these anonymous letters with our
pamphlets. He did not specifically say that we wrote those anonymous letters
but he implied that there might be a link between them and us. But Allah is my
witness that I have nothing to do with their anonymous letters. Furthermore
the amir quoted a hadith and he told the members that they have khilafat and
they have to obey their caliph. However he did not give any reference for his
hadith. He spoke about a well known hadith related by Hazrat Huzaifa which is
found in Muslim. I spoke about this hadith at the end of my sermon of 26th
November 2010 (http://www.jaam-international.org/eng/fs/KJ_26Nov10_eng.html.
He
did not quote the hadith from its original source in full. He paraphrased to
say “If there is a caliph of Allah
present on earth and he strikes you on your back and he takes possession of
your belongings, even then you should submit and obey. And if there is no
caliph it would be better for you to meet death by clinging yourself to the
trunks of trees. That is to say by staying isolated from all people. This
Hadith is sufficient for those who want to see clearly.”(KJ
20110304). The English translation is mine. To
the best of my knowledge there is no mention of a caliph of Allah in the
hadith. The hadith speaks about “Jamaatoul Mouslemeen wa imamohoum”
which means “a Jamaat of the Muslims with their Imam.” In his eagerness to
prove the divine origin of khilafat within Jamaat Ahmadiyya he speaks about “a
caliph of Allah”. This is the displacement of words because of which the Jews
have been condemned in the Holy Quran. Allah speaks of these Jews at several
places. At one place He says “So,
because of their breaking their covenant, We have cursed them, and have hardened their hearts.
They pervert the words from their proper places
and have forgotten a good part of that with which they
were exhorted. And thou wilt not cease to discover treachery on their part,
except in a
few of them. So pardon them and turn away from them.
Surely, Allah loves those who do good.”(5:14) So we see how the amir of
Mauritius tries to make the people believe that which do not exist. Furthermore
he says if there is no caliph people should go and cling to the trunk of trees.
What nonsense. In fact the Holy Prophet said if one does not find such a leader
one should remain away from these sects and go into the forest and “eat tree
roots to stay alive”. Again a real misquote. And as a knower of Hadith he
peremptorily tells the people “This Hadith is sufficient for those who want
to see clearly.” Now
imagine the innocent Ahmadi who hears his amir quoting such a hadith, he will
believe it. But has this person been fed with the proper hadith? Had the amir
accepted to talk he might correct the quotation in the next sermon. But who
cares besides us? Now regarding the fact that
the caliph might “beat you and take possession of your belongings but you have
to submit and obey him”, I will say that I have never heard anything more
ridiculous. It is a well known fact that there are many hadiths that have been
fabricated to coerce Muslims to submit to ruthless rulers in the past. In
modern times some people who have a similar bent as those Muslim political
leaders of the past want to do the same thing. They want people to be coerced
into submission and so they attribute to the Holy Prophet preposterous words
that contradict the Holy Quran. A caliph is here to prevent people from being
beaten by others. He is here to preserve the people’s belongings and not to
take them by force. I wonder how people can attribute such words to the Holy
Prophet and want others to believe them. One should really be an ignorant
person for one to do such things in the name of Ahmadiyyat where we have such a
rich spiritual heritage. Since the amir spoke about a
hadith from Hazrat Huzaifa I suggest he tells the people the following ones.
Hazrat Huzaifa reported: “The Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) narrated to us two
ahadith. I have seen one (crystallized into reality), and I am waiting for the
other. He told us: Trustworthiness descended in the innermost (root) of the
hearts of people. Then the Qur'an was revealed and they learnt from the Qur'an
and they learnt from the Sunnah. Then he (the Holy Prophet) told us about the
removal of trustworthiness. He said: The man would have a wink of sleep and
trustworthiness would be taken away from his heart leaving the impression of a
faint mark. He would again sleep and trustworthiness would be taken away from
his heart leaving an impression of a blister, as if you rolled down an ember on
your foot and it was vesicled. He would see a swelling having nothing in it. He
(the Holy Prophet) then took up a pebble and rolled it down over his foot and
(said): The people would enter into transactions amongst one another and hardly
a person would be left who would return (things) entrusted to him. (And there
would be so much paucity of honest persons) till it would be said: There in
such and such tribe is a trustworthy
man. And they would also say about a person: How prudent he is, how
broad-minded he is and how intelligent he is, whereas in his heart there would
not be faith even to the weight of a mustard seed. I have passed through a time
in which I did not care with whom amongst you I entered into a transaction, for
if he were a Muslim his faith would compel him to discharge his obligations to
me and it he were a Christian or a Jew, the ruler would compel him to discharge
his obligations to me. But today I would not enter into a transaction with you
except so and so.”(Bokhari & Muslim) In
another hadith Hazrat Abu Huraira says: I
think that these hadiths enlighten us much more about what were to come in the
Muslim umma. Jamaat Ahmadiyya was created to
protect the real teachings of Islam. It is Allah’s promise that His Group will
be victorious. These days we represent that group. We pray that we remain
always in that group in name and in deeds. May Allah help us. |
