Jamaat Ahmadiyya al Mouslemeen

Friday Sermon of Hazrat Amirul Momeneen Zafrullah Domun

Friday Sermon 14th March 2008

After reading the Tashahhud, the Ta’uz and the first chapter of the Holy Quran Hazrat Amirul Mo’menine Zafrullah Domun recited:

“Innallazina yobayeounaka innama yobayeounallah , yadoullaha fawqa aydihim.Wa man nakasa fa innama yankoso ala nafsehi. Wa man awfa bema ahada alaihoullaha fa sa yo’tihé ajran azima”

This is verse 11 of chapter 48, Al Fath of the Holy Quran. Its translation is as follows:
“Verily those who swear allegiance to you, swear allegiance to Allah. The hand of Allah is over their hands. So whoever breaks his oath breaks it to his own loss; and whoever fulfils his covenant that he has made with Allah, He will surely give him a great reward.”

As I told you last week, this verse was revealed to me twice during that week. But that was not the only time that it had been revealed to me : I have received this revelation from Allah on many occasions. In the Jamaat Ahmadiyya, to the best of my knowledge, this revelation was given to Hazrat Masih Maood (a.s) several times but not to any of the caliphs of the Jamaat. I am not just saying this offhand . I have researched the books that the Jamaat has recently published on the dreams and visions of the caliphs and I have not seen any mention of this revelation. There is also a 600-page book which contains 655 dreams, revelations and visions of Hazrat Mirza Bashir uddin Mahmood Ahmad (r.a). I have recently gone through that book but I have not seen this revelation at all. These were the caliphs who were the personification of caliphate within Jamaat Ahmadiyya, but Allah did not give any of them this most important verse as a revelation. But now Allah has, out of His Grace vouchsafed this revelation to this humble one. Shouldn't you ask yourself why?

Most of you may not know its importance. Therefore I will tell you about a revelation of Hazrat Mirza Bashir uddin Mahmood Ahmad (r.a) which he received on April 2, 1944. I am quoting him because he is someone whom we can ,with reason, qualify as an authority in these matters. I am paraphrasing from an Urdu text. He says:

“When in the morning, my eyes opened the day before yesterday, the following words were on my lips: “Yadoullahi fawqa aydihim”. Allah knows better to whom this applies. But these words are very blessed. The first part of this verse was not there but only what I have mentioned. It seems that these words apply to the incident that has taken place in Delhi where four or five of our members have overcome two to four hundreds of our opponents” {Al Fazl 21July 1944}

We understand that he received part of the abovementioned verse as revelation. He received “Yadoullahi fawqa aydihim” which means “Allah’s Hand is above their hands”. And he comments that “magar yé alfaaz hein bahut mobarak” which means as we have already said “but these are very blessed words”. Now imagine what would have been the revelation of the whole verse to him! And also reflect how blessed are these words to a follower of Hazrat Masih Maood (a.s)! And how blessed are those for whom Allah has used these words! Through this revelation Allah wants all the people of the world in general and particularly the Ahmadis, to know that any person who swears an oath of allegiance to this humble one is in fact swearing it to Allah. You may have sworn your allegiance to someone else and you think that you have sworn it to Allah. But by making me declare that Allah has revealed this verse to me Allah wants you all to know that He has chosen this humble one for this purpose. Now it is up to the people to choose. If they want blessings and they want to know what they should do to get rid of the bondage of sins, they should come to me. If they follow my advice, all the doors of spiritual blessings will be opened for them by Allah’s Grace. Then they will truly become the inheritors and successors of the prophets.

However, once someone makes an oath of allegiance, one should strive one’s best to be true to the engagement. In our particular case it means to be well aware of the ten conditions of allegiance as Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad (a.s) has explained them. Once we have apprised ourselves of these conditions, we should do our best to live according to them or else we would be guilty of not fulfilling our engagement with Allah. Allah has said in the Holy Quran “Innal ahda kaana mas’oula” which means “and the covenant shall be questioned about”. However if someone chooses not to act according to the oath that he has made, he would be wronging his own soul. Allah says “wa man nakasa fa innama yankoso ala nafsehi” which means “whoever breaks his oath breaks it to his own loss”. In other words, if you take the oath of allegiance you take it for your own benefit. You are not doing any favor either to the person who is taking your allegiance or to Allah. You do it only to benefit your own self because Allah says “if you do not fulfill your engagement you will act against your own self”. However, he who fulfills the engagement that he has made with Allah, will be amply rewarded by Allah.

From this verse therefore we understand that Allah, out of His Mercy for mankind, sends guides to them from time to time so that they may show to the people the path that will lead them to Allah. Allah confers upon these guides a special favor from Him. He talks to them and reveals His words to them and tells them to tell the people to make an engagement with them and that would be an engagement with Allah. This engagement will be of immense benefit to them if they fulfill it but if they turn their back to it, they will only harm themselves. All this shows how Allah’s Mercy is great. For the benefit of mankind He sends them guides but mankind is very ungrateful and usually the people reject these guides because they think they know better.

Now I am going to tell you something which will help you to understand how Allah brings about His purpose. In June 1956 Hazrat Mirza Bashir uddin Mahmood (r.a) Ahmad wrote: “In the middle of the night of 15th to 16th June I was in a state of revelation and these words were on my tongue “Inna a’azza a’maalin naasi an yusammal hamalaan” which means “the best actions of man are those for which he is called “hamalaan” that is someone on whom a great burden has been put. Then the revelation mode dissipated and I entered in a state of vision and I tried to understand the meaning of the revelation that I had just received. I understood that the perfection of man’s life is that, on the one hand he is completely focused on Allah and assumes the responsibility to achieve that purpose and on the other hand he assumes the full responsibility of doing good to mankind and to spread the word of Allah. Then it was put in my heart that the previous Sufis, who named one of the ranks of sainthood as qutb, and will now be known in this age by the name of hamalaan. The meaning of hamalaan is the one who carries a burden and the Polar star also is trying to lead the whole solar system by its gravitational pull towards an unknown place. Therefore hamalaan is that person who carries the burden of both the temporal and spiritual world and he tries to bring mankind towards Allah. And the Sufis of yore called them qutb.”

From this explanation we can understand who is a qutb according to Hazrat Mirza Bashir uddin Mahmood Ahmad (r.a). He is telling us that the Sufis of yore named the one who had attained the highest rank of sainthood as qutb. But these days this person would be called “hamalaan” according to his revelation. Should you marvel then that Allah has called this humble one “qutbuddin”. The Pole of the religion. As you may recall on 26th May 2007 Allah addressed may saying “Unzur ila jamaa’ati Ya qutbuddin” which means “Look, take care of My Jamaat, O Qutbuddin”. If we take the meaning of qutb as has been made clear to us by the above quoted revelation of Hazrat Mirza Bashir uddin Mahmood Ahmad (r.a), one can easily understand to whom Allah has given the task to look after the needs of the Jamaat. This is an appointment made directly by Allah. I think you may remember how many times Mirza Tahir Ahmad said that the leader appointed by Allah is more important than the leader appointed by men.

Therefore it is high time for all Ahmadis around the world to ask themselves who is he whom Allah has appointed to lead them to Him and to look after their needs. I have been telling all of them since sometime now that they have a wrong notion of khilafat. But they seem to turn a deaf ear to all that I have been saying and they continue to wallow in their blissful ignorance. Allah has given me some blessings that I want to share with you but you prefer to sleep in the darkness of your negligence. I am calling you to point out the flaws of my arguments and my claims but you prefer to sit in a stony silence because you do not have valid arguments to counter mine. Just try to think. Do you think that I would have risked so much by inventing lies upon Allah, whilst you know quite well that I have been a person who always avoids all lies, even in worldly matters? Do you think that I am so stupid that I would make the whole of Jamaat Ahmadiyya my enemies whilst I am the one who is most knowledgeable about those who have tried to fight this Jamaat? No! No! my friends. Had I not been commanded by Allah to say what I have said up till now, I would not have said it. So take some pity on your own selves and do not try to oppose me because the One who has sent me would not allow you to do so with impunity.

On Tuesday last Allah revealed to me “Wa maa kounna mo’azzabina hatta nab’asa rasoula” which means “We will not send punishment until We send messengers”. So my advice to you is to take care lest you become history before it is too late.

Allah says in the Holy Quran “Lan yana lallaho lahoumoha wa laa dimaa’o ha wa laa kin yanaalahout taqwa min koum” which means “Neither their flesh nor their blood reach Allah but only the righteousness of your heart that reaches Him” Ch. 22 : v. 38. This verse makes it clear that Allah appreciates the righteousness of the heart and nothing else. Is this your righteousness that you ignore a message that has come to you from your Lord? Is this righteousness that you turn your backs on the signs of Allah? Is it righteousness that you allow your hearts to be as hardened as the Jews of yore? Instead of saying “we hear and we obey” they said “we hear but we disobey”. Come on! If you can discuss with arguments, present your arguments. If you can’t and you want to understand come to me and I will explain the whole matter to you. I care only for your souls and nothing else. Do not ever think that I want my numbers to grow. I am seeking only those persons who want to be purified and who want to achieve the object of their existence. To them I will be of some use.

I will end with another revelation that I received on Monday last. It is as follows:

“Yaa ayyatohan nafsoul moutmeinna tour je’ii ela rabbeka raziatam marzia, fadkholi fi ebaadi wad kholi jannati”

It means “O you soul at peace! return to your Lord, you are well pleased with Him and He is well pleased with you; So enter among My chosen Servants and enter My Garden.”

Ameen.
