Jamaat Ahmadiyya al Mouslemeen

Friday Sermon of Hazrat Amirul Momeneen Zafrullah Domun

Friday Sermon 15th February 2008

After reading the Tashahhud, the Ta’uz and the first chapter of the Holy Quran, Hazrat Amirul Mo’menine Zafrullah Domun said:

In the sermons that I have been delivering since the beginning of the year I have been speaking most of the time about some of the revelations that I have received from Allah with regard to some wrong beliefs of the Jamaat Ahmadiyya International. I have shown with quotations from the Holy Quran and from Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad (a.s) how the Jamaat are deluding themselves concerning the concept that they have developed of Khilafat over the years. I have also asked the authorities of the Jamaat to show us our mistakes in the light of the Holy Quran, the Ahadiths or even from the writings of Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad (a.s). Unfortunately as at today there has been no response.

In the past I have also spoken about this matter several times. It seems that the authorities within the International Jamaat have decided to completely ignore our warnings. As far as I am concerned I pray to Allah that these people may see the light before it is too late. Changing one’s beliefs is a very difficult matter for several reasons. That is why whenever a prophet comes, he has a difficult task at first.

People do not like to accept what is new. Moreover since in the majority of cases people are quite ignorant about their systems of beliefs, they find it to be quite difficult to change them and they prefer to allow their leaders to look after these matters. Once beliefs are anchored it is very difficult to uproot them. Let us again take some examples. Jews believe that their Promised Messiah has still not yet come. That is why they rejected Hazrat Isa (a.s) and almost every day they go to the wall of wailing in Jerusalem and they pray for his coming. The fact is that the world knows that Jesus, son of Mary was the Promised Messiah. But the Jews have been deprived of the blessings of recognizing him. The Christians recognized him and they profited from his coming for some time. Unfortunately, with the passage of time some of them began to believe him to be the son of God and they deviated from his pure teachings of monotheism.

In the Holy Quran we read:
“And when Allah will say’ O Jesus, son of Mary, didst thou say to men’ take me and my mother for two gods besides Allah? “He will answer “Holy art Thou, I could never say that to which I had no right. If I had said it, Thou would surely have known it. You know what is in my mind and I know not what is in your mind. You are the only One who knows all things hidden.”
“I said nothing to them except what you commanded me to say “Worship Allah my Lord and your Lord” And I was a witness over them as long as I lived with them. But when you caused me to die, you have been the Watcher over them and you are the Witness over all things” Ch. 5 verses: 117-118

These verses were revealed in the 7th Century after Jesus Christ and by then some Christians had already changed their beliefs and they had forgotten the teachings that Jesus gave them. In these verses Allah establishes the truth with His Words revealed to another servant of His. Of course such words were very unpalatable to the Christians because they thought that they were the chosen ones of Allah and there was no need for the Holy Prophet Mohammad (saw) to come to change their beliefs. They rejected him and even today after fifteen centuries they still cling to their wrong beliefs. Yet in the beginning they were the beloved of Allah and they even offered plenty of extraordinary sacrifices for their faith, for the cause of Allah. They were eaten by wild animals in front of the Romans but they never gave up their belief in Jesus.
Here I would like to tell you a hadith which runs as follows:

“The Prophet said, "You will be gathered (on the Day of Judgment), bare-footed, naked and not circumcised." He then recited: "As We began the first creation, We, shall repeat it: A Promise We have undertaken: Truly we shall do it." (21.104) He added, "The first to be dressed on the Day of Resurrection will be Abraham, and some of my companions will be taken towards the left side (i.e. to the (Hell) Fire), and I will say: 'My companions! My companions!' It will be said: 'They renegade from Islam after you left them.' Then I will say as the Pious slave of Allah (i.e. Jesus) said, 'And I was a witness Over them while I dwelt amongst them. When You caused me to die You were the Watcher over them, And You are a witness to all things. If You punish them. They are Your slaves And if You forgive them, Verily you, only You are the All-Mighty, the All-Wise.' (5.120-121)"[ Bokhari Vol 4 :568]”

This hadith proves that the holy prophet knew that some Muslims would leave Islam after his death. The holy prophet did not know what would be the state of Muslims down the centuries but he said that if Muslims stuck to the teachings of the Holy Quran and his sunnat they would never go astray. Once Muslims start introducing new things in their religion they were bound to go astray. The only guarantee that we know of against this straying from the right path is those persons who would be raised from time to time to remind the people of the true teachings of the Holy Quran and the real sunnat of the Holy Prophet Mohammad (pbuh). If those persons who received the spiritual heritage of the Holy Prophet went astray, if those who followed Hazrat Isa (pbuh) and Hazrat Moosa (pbuh) went astray , should we wonder if the time has come when the spiritual heirs of the Promised Messiah should go astray by modifying the latter’s teachings? Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad (a.s) said in very clear terms that there will be some other persons who would come in the future who would be the manifestation of the Second Manifestation (Qudrat Sania). The Jamaat has taken this to mean Khilafat Ahmadiyya which was not even spoken of by Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad (pbuh) with the same connotation that is being given to it these days or even by previous caliphs.

On the matter of reform and how Allah carries it out, Hazrat Mirza Tahir Ahmad (1929-2003) made an interesting lecture which has been published in the form of a booklet with the title “The Philosophy of the revival of religion”. He presented this lecture in 1983 in Sydney in Australia. He said something good and I accept it. But on some other matters, I do not agree with him at all.
He said “……Every fair minded person can see from this comparison that the Ahmadiyya view-point is based on the history of religions while the philosophy of its opponents is mythical and contradicts the history of religious revival. We learn from history that everyone appointed by God was faced with a storm of opposition. All prophets came with the message of truth and eternal life but were opposed by those who preferred falsehood to truth, and spiritual death to spiritual life. This indeed is the process of the birth of religions. When impurities and corruption crept into religions, their rebirth also took the same course. The reformers sent by God also suffered as the prophets had suffered. Whenever the Almighty chose to revive a nation spiritually, it split into two groups: those who saw the truth and those who opposed it. And neither group ever changed its demonstrated attitude. The Holy Quran; describes this oft repeated cycle in a most effective and moving manner. A study of the Holy Quran shows that:
1. Religions are born and revived through divinely appointed reformers. Never have the scholars ever reformed a religion through conferences and consultations.
2. The divinely appointed reformers are invariably rejected by their people and treated with arrogance and disdain.
3. Such reformers are always opposed by violence. They are accused of corrupting the religion of their forefathers. They are branded heretics and held guilty of apostasy.
4. The creed professed by the opponents prescribes death or banishment as the punishment for apostasy. The reformers are offered a choice of either a return to the fold or exile, failing which they are threatened with death.
5. The reformers never advocate violence. Their followers demonstrate steadfastness of such a high degree that they would rather be exiled or killed than recant.
6. The reformers do not entice people with promises of power and high office: they dispel worldly ambition. They do not lure people with wealth; they inculcate the spirit of sacrifice. The rich who believe consider it their good fortune to give their all in the service of God; the mighty shrug off the trappings of power. It is then that divine providence adjudges them fit to take over temporal power.
This is the process of religious revival of nations that the Ouran and the Scriptures reveal. All prophets, from Adam to the Holy Prophet Muhammad, went through these stages. They gave their nations new life by leading them over the path of suffering and sacrifice. They taught love. They inculcated love of hard work, of sustained effort and incessant actions. It is this revolutionary spirit which breathes life into dead nations. This oft-demonstrated and unchanging divine law is in consonance with man's nature, conscience and intellect. It is this law that the Ahmadiyya Community acknowledges.” [p10-11 ]

This was what he said in 1983. But later on he changed his view when he spoke about Ahmadiyyat. To him the system of Khilafat was sufficient for reforming the Jamaat itself. On this matter, in the light of what Allah has been telling me, he was wrong in his opinion. If we analyze the above extract we will notice that whatever has been said in it about the behavior of the majority towards the minority has already taken place within the Jamaat Ahmadiyya. It is quite unfortunate that despite such clear instructions, the Jamaat as a whole has failed to understand Allah’s purpose.

I will now tell you an interesting dream that I saw on Wednesday 13th February after the Fajr Prayer. I saw that I was in the yard at Dar us Salam mosque in Rose Hill. My brother Siddique was with me. I saw that someone was installing a table to sell books. In fact he was selling magazines. He had plenty of old copies of “Tehrik Jadid” magazines with him. The young Ahmadis of today do not know about this magazine which was being published by late Molvi Naseem Saifi. I wanted to get all these magazines but I did not dare to ask the seller because he was not on speaking terms with me. Suddenly I saw Molvi Siddique Ahmad Munawwar who was a good friend of mine. I asked him to help me to get all those magazines. He smiled. At that moment these words flowed from my mouth “We are the Tehrik Jadid and I woke up.

For the information of the young members of the Jamaat, I would like to say that the word “Tehrik” comes from the Arabic root “har ra ka” which means “to move, to action, to activate, to agitate”. Hence the word “Tehrik” would mean agitation, movement, action. The word Jadid means new, modern. Hence Jamaat Ahmadiyya Al Mouslemeen has brought a new agitation, a new movement, fresh ideas backed by facts. Furthermore if we try to understand this dream with what Allah told me in the beginning of the Divine Manifestation, namely “you are the new orbit”, we can get a deeper meaning of “we are tehrik Jadid” . These words may also have the meanings that Jamaat Ahmadiyya Al Mouslemeen has also as its task to keep alive the “Tehrik Jadid” scheme that was put in place by the late Khalifatul Masih II, Mirza Bashir uddin Mahmood Ahmad (r.a) around the year 1934. Those were very difficult times and the then caliph launched that scheme to encourage Ahmadis to lead a simple life by following the example of the Holy Prophet Mohammad (pbuh). But we rarely hear about the demands of that scheme these days and we hear more about its financial aspect, namely how much money has been received; which Jamaat contributed what amount; who is first and who is last in the league table of performance. All these make people forget the essential and run after the superficial. But this has never been the objectives of Jamaat Ahmadiyya and should never ever be also. The Jamaat has to help its members to achieve the aim of their life namely to know their Allah. If you have lived without achieving this aim, you have lived for nothing! This is the essential; the rest is peripheral. If you have not understood this, you have not understood the true aim of life as explained by Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad (a.s) who came to revive the teachings of Islam as taught by Hazrat Mohammad (pbuh).

Most Ahmadis would tell you that they are in sound spiritual health because they have a caliph. No one knows his or her spiritual disease unless Allah opens his or her inner eye. To achieve this purpose, from time to time Allah sends someone who is anointed by Him and who knows the path and to whom Allah gives knowledge from Himself to help men and women to know their spiritual ailments and to cure them. Without the help of that person, reform is very difficult, well nigh impossible. Ahmadis who are living today have been given a really rare gift by Allah provided they recognize it. If they deny and are adamant in their denial, they should revise their history books to know what will be in store for them.

Before ending I will share with you two more dreams. I cannot say for sure what they mean. But the message that they have brought is quite frightening. The first dream I saw some three weeks ago. I saw that I was speaking with the plague. I said: “Plague where you are?” It replied to me saying: “Here I am!”

The second dream I saw on Wednesday, the day before. I saw written on something “I am the plague”. Allah knows best the meanings of these dreams and the many other things that He shows me in visions, dreams and through revelations.

Our members should read the following prayer which Allah revealed to me on Friday 1st February. It is as follows: “Rabbanak shif annal azaaba , inna kounna mo’menine”. Its translation is “O Our Lord remove from us the torment, truly we are believers”. This is verse 13 of chapter 44, Addukhan. I quote its context.

“Yet they play about in doubt. So watch for the day when the sky will bring forth visible smoke that will envelope the people. This will be a painful torment. They will cry out “O Our Lord remove from us the torment, truly we are believers.’ How can they benefit by admonition when there has already come to them a messenger explaining things clearly. And yet they turned away from him and said
‘He is tutored and he is mad man.’ ” Ch. 44 Verses:10-15.

The word “majnun” that has been used in the last verse does not mean “one possessed by a devil or a Jinn” or simply “possessed”, but it means “a mad or insane person”, or “one whose intellectual faculties have become very much impaired” according to the lexicographer, Lane.

May Allah bless you all and have mercy.

Ameen.
