Jamaat Ahmadiyya al Mouslemeen

Friday Sermon of Hazrat Amirul Momeneen Zafrullah Domun

Friday Sermon 18th April 2008

After reading the shahadat, the ta’uz and the first chapter of the Holy Quran, Hazrat Amirul Mo’menine Zafrullah Domun said:

In the light of the book of Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad, the Promised Messiah and Mahdi,(peace be upon him) “Zarouratoul Imam” we have learned many important points of knowledge and wisdom. If we use the contents of this book to understand what Hazrat Masih Maood (a.s) has explained to us about the office of the Imam, it becomes quite clear to a true seeker after truth that the imam he is speaking about is not the one who succeeded him as his representative in Jamaat Ahmadiyya but he is speaking about the one who is appointed by Allah directly at a time and place that He chooses.

Moreover Hazrat Masih (a.s) has made it very clear in this book that the revelation of the Imam of the time is the touchstone to judge the revelations of all other contemporary recipients of revelations. It means that his revelations act as the criteria to judge the revelations of all his contemporaries. By explaining to us the relevant role, capacities and qualities of the Imam, Hazrat Masih (a.s) has given us the necessary means to judge anyone who may be making a claim to be the Imam appointed by Allah. I hope that incha Allah all Ahmadis around the world would read this booklet and take their own conclusions.

I have explained this small booklet to you in my past three sermons because I know quite well that most Ahmadis do not read. They have what is known as the simple faith. They do not question anything at all. They accept what they have been told. They rely on authority figures. Even if the authority figures are wrong it does not matter because to them their leaders cannot be wrong. This is what they have learned or they want to keep as lessons about their faith. But Hazrat Masih Maood (a.s) has taught us to go and search for your Lord and not to be satisfied until we meet Him.

To justify the arrival of Hazrat Masih Maood (a.s) the caliphs have been saying that the situation of the Muslims at the time of his coming was really bad and that is why Allah had raised him so that he might remove the wrong beliefs that the Muslims started entertaining. He came as a judge who pronounced his judgment on the differences that had beset the Muslim world. He fulfilled the mission that the Holy Prophet Mohammad (s.a.w) said that he would have. Hazrat Masih Maood (a.s) went on to tell us that all spiritual organizations would enter a natural process of decay after a period of approximately eighty years. But he said that Allah would not abandon His Jamaat because He would send someone to revive the faith at that particular moment so that the Jamaat as a whole might be saved.

Hence it is undeniable that according to the writings of Hazrat Masih Maood (a.s) Allah would appoint many persons in his Jamaat to keep people on the right path. As a person well versed in the Holy Quran, he knew quite well that the Holy Quran is quite clear that Allah will continue to send guides to help people to know Him. Furthermore these guides would know that they are guides because Allah would tell them through revelations that He has appointed them for this purpose. That is most probably the reason why he said in his book “Al Wassiyyat” which was published in 1905:

“ It is the will and desire of Allah that all those living in different parts of the world, in Europe or Asia, all those who possess a righteous nature , He should draw all of them to the doctrine of Unity and gather all His Creatures on one single religion. This is the aim of Allah for the fulfillment of which I have been sent. So therefore, it is incumbent on you that you should strive for this aim, but with gentleness, humility, high morals and prayer. And until such time when someone should stand up with the Holy Spirit (ruhoul quddous) after me you should all cooperate and work together.” (p13)

At this point one may impertinently ask the question what is the need for such persons when we have khilafat. Why do I say impertinently? Because only those who are impertinent, foolish and bad mannered who would dare tell Allah how He should go about doing His work.

First of all, you should know that Hazrat Masih Maood (a.s) did not mention khilafat as we know it within Jamaat Ahmadiyya. When he spoke about khilafat he spoke about the mantle of khilafat that Allah gives to a chosen servant of His and not that which has been established within Jamaat Ahmadiyya. Nonetheless I will not say that there was anything amiss with this system especially within its early days. But when the caliphs started saying that now this established system will go for ever and there will be no one who would come from Allah except one of them, I think that something has become really bad. I say that this is in total contradiction with the Holy Quran and also the writings of the Holy Promised Messiah. You may refer to my previous sermon on this matter (see Friday sermons of 19th and 26th October 2007).

In the light of such clear-cut instructions from Hazrat Masih Maood (a.s) how can one accept such ideas that after him no one would come from Allah? Now if Jamaat Ahmadiyya’s caliph or the learned ones have arguments to support their claims then they should put them forward. We have an open mind. If truth flows from even an enemy’s mouth we would accept it. But I do not consider them as my enemies. I am an enemy to their ideas and beliefs.

There is no denying the fact that what Allah said to Hazrat Masih Maood (a.s) was true and what Hazrat Masih himself said was equally true. He said that his Jamaat would be victorious in the end. He also said what I have quoted above. He also said, I have quoted before that those are really fortunate people to whom Allah speak.

Several times the Holy Quran says that believers will to be tried. I will quote a few verses. Allah says:
“Do men think that they will be left alone because they say “We believe” and that they will not be tried?
And we did try those who were before them. So Allah will assuredly know those who are truthful and He will assuredly know the liars.”(Chapter 29, vreses: 3, 4)

Any simple minded person can easily understand that when Allah is speaking about the trials of believers He is not just speaking about the trials that almost all human beings face in the course of their life. For example losing a dear one, losing money, farmers losing their crops, some students failing their examination; these are definitely severe trials that shake believers. But they are not the same as those that we face when someone says that he has been sent by Allah to guide the people. Allah sends such persons to mankind when there is corruption in beliefs and actions. This is what History tells us and this is what the Holy Quran tells us.

When the Holy Prophet (s.a.w) came, the Jews and Christians’ beliefs were already corrupted and most of the Arabs were idolaters. Allah sent the Holy Prophet (s.a.w) to correct their beliefs. In the same way when Hazrat Masih Maood (a.s) came, he corrected not only the beliefs of the Muslims but he showed that the teachings of Islam are the real teachings of Allah and that all other teachings have been corrupted. Now if the caliphs maintained all the beliefs and teachings of the Promised Messiah, they would have been true to their claims that as his representative they are preserving his beliefs. But unfortunately they have made statements that are contrary to what Hazrat Masih had said. Therefore Allah sends them this humble one to tell them that regarding the khilafat they have a wrong belief and it needs to be corrected.

Therefore Ahmadis are being tried as those before them were tried – the Muslims, the Christians and the Jews. This is the Way of Allah. When such trials come there is an automatic break in the Jamaat- those who support and those who reject the new claimant.

Repeatedly Allah has said to me “In anta illa Nazir”. This is a revelation that Allah vouchsafed to Hazrat Masih Maood (a.s) several times in the past. It means: “You are but a Warner”. Most Ahmadis are taking this very lightly because they are blindly following those who are in authority. In the Holy Quran Allah speaks of those who reject the Holy Quran in the following verses:

“And those who disbelieve say: “listen not to this Quran, but make noise during its recital that you may have the upper hand.” (Ch. 41: v. 27).

The apparent meaning is what we may literally understand from the verse. That is most probably the Arabs wanted their people not to listen to it and they told their people to try to get the upper hand by making such noises that others may not listen to its verses. Now if we think well, we would notice that the same thing has been said about the revelations that we receive. It has been reported to me that someone said that all these revelations should be burnt and also that Ahmadis should not listen to what we have to say. All this comes under what has been said in this verse.

Then Allah says:
“And most certainly we will make those who disbelieve taste a severe punishment and most certainly we will requite them for the worst of their deeds. That is the reward of the enemies of Allah- the Fire. For them there will be an abiding home therein as requital because they persisted in denying our signs.
And those who disbelieve will say, “Our Lord show us those who led us astray from among both the jinn and men that we may trample them under our feet that they may be abased” (Ch. 41 : v. 27-30)

Most Ahmadis, because they are not conversant with the Holy Quran do not even know that such verses exist and that one day they will have to give accounts of their deeds alone to Allah. And those who are at present thinking that they are so well placed that the shadow of the caliph is on them do not even realize what will happen if they persist in their iniquities. May Allah have mercy upon them and help them to see and understand before it is too late. At many other places in the Holy Quran Allah has spoken about the same subject. Read my previous sermons and you will be well informed about this because it is addressed to all Ahmadis – those who lead and the led.

I say again , if the mainstream Ahmadis think that I am wrong in my statements , I invite them again , to point out the mistakes in my argument and to help me. How many times we have been told that “Truth is a power by itself”. Therefore since Jamaat Ahmadiyya believes that it has a monopoly on truth and that it can challenge any opinion, I am inviting them all to challenge what I am saying so that on the day of resurrection they may not be trampled under the feet of those whom they are keeping in the dark about the blessings that Allah has sent for them.

If I say to the Ahmadis today that they do not care about what Allah says but they give most importance to what their caliph says and hence they are guilty of associating partners with Allah. Many of them would say how I could dare say such a thing. But the fact is that when the caliph appointed me as a simple Amir of the Jamaat, they all accepted that decision. When he removed me from that office, all accepted his decision without any demur and some were even overjoyed. But now when I come to them and tell them that ALLAH has appointed me as an Imam to guide the people most of them except a fortunate few turn their backs and say that this cannot be. They prefer to continue to obey their caliph. Hence we say that they give the caliph a greater importance than Allah. This shows that they have preferred ignorance to wisdom, darkness to light, and misguidance to guidance. If that is their choice how could they be well guided and how can they be the guides of the world. But this should not have been so had they understood the Holy Quran as Hazrat Ahmad (a.s) had explained it and not followed the personal opinions of their leaders.

Allah knows better and come what may, He will fulfill what He promised the Messiah. His true followers will always be here to keep the pristine purity of his teachings. Incha Allah, members of Jamaat Ahmdiyya Al Mouslemeen will strive to propagate the real teachings of Hazrat Ahmad (a.s) to the world. In the past whenever others were asking about whether someone else could one day receive excellences as Hazrat Ahmad (a.s) received, the Jamaat was in a bind to answer this question properly. By the Grace of Allah, I can answer this question in a very satisfactory way. When the time comes incha Allah, I will do so.

I will end today’s sermon with the following verse as a subject of meditation for all Ahmadis around the world:
“ Qoul Ara aytoum in kaana min indillahi wa kafartoum behi man azallo mimman howa fi shiqaqin ba’ide”
Translation:
“Say tell me if it is from Allah and you reject it who is more astray than the one who in enmity has drifted far away” (Ch. 41 : v. 53)

May Allah have mercy on all of you.

Ameen.
