Friday Sermon 19th October 2007

After reciting, Tashahhud, Ta’ouz and surah Al Fatiha of the Holy Quran, Hazrat Amirul Mo’menine Zafrullah Domun said:

THE GREEN BOOKLET
Our brothers and sisters are all aware that since last week, we have published a new statement on our English website. We have prepared a “creole” version of the same statement, which has been published as a small green booklet and was given to our members on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr. I hope that all our members, young and old have made a special effort to read the booklet. If you have not done so yet, please read it as soon as possible. In the booklet, we have clarified many points that support our claims and these will help you to explain our position to others. Those who have already read the booklet, please read it again, discuss it with your friends, so that you may have a better understanding of the nature of our claims and the explanations we have given.

A NEW TOPIC FOR THE FRIDAY SERMON

By the grace of Allah, I have so many topics in mind; I found it quite difficult to single out a particular one for today’s sermon. Having thought about it, I have decided to share with our members some extracts from Hazrat Masih Maoud (as)’s writings concerning those persons whom Allah will raise in the ummat of Hazrat Mohammad (saw) in order to guide others on the right path. In the booklet, we only briefly talked about it, but now I have decided to mention several extracts from the writings of Hazrat Masih Maoud (as). I hope this will be of benefit to you while discussing this subject with others. And I would also like to mention that if any of our brothers or sisters do not have a clear understanding of our position, please do not hesitate to come forward and feel free to ask any questions. Incha Allah, from what Allah has taught me I will do my best to give you a satisfactory answer.

THE UNIQUE POSITION OF ISLAM
Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad (as) has taught us that the one thing that differentiates Islam from all other religions is that Islam is “a living religion”. Firstly its teachings are perfect and secondly if anyone follows these teachings, this person will gain “certainty” on Allah. In other religions, these two aspects are not present. Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad (as) has told us that when he was writing his book “Buraheen Ahmadiyya”, he wanted to give three hundred logical arguments to prove the truth of Islam, but however Allah made him understand that only these two aspects are necessary and they are sufficient to replace thousand of other proofs or characteristics of Islam. As a result of this, he changed his plan and he did not mention three hundred arguments but much less.

THE REALITY OF ISLAM
In a speech at Sialkot, Hazrat Ahmad (as) said: “The reality of Islam is that you bare your neck to Allah just as a sacrificial sheep, you abandon your own wishes, you submit and give yourself completely to the Will and Pleasure of Allah, you lose yourself in Allah and you accept a death on your own person; you live in the love of Allah, obey Him in all things because of this love; you will obtain eyes that see only through Him; you will have a heart that is totally devoted to Allah; you will have a tongue that speaks through His command. This is a stage where all search is completed, the human faculties reach their perfection and the human ego no longer subsists. In this state, divine mercy gives a new life to the seeker of truth with His living words. And with His brilliant light this person receives a special understanding which cannot be attained with the intellect and which cannot be seen with the eye and it comes near his heart, as Allah says in this verse:
And We are nearer to him than even his jugular vein” Ch. 50:17

This is how Allah honors the mortal man with His proximity. After this comes the moment where man is no longer blind and he attains a perception and man sees Allah with his own eyes; he hears His voice and he sees himself wrapped in the cloak of Allah’s light. It is at this moment that the objective of religion is attained; once man has witnessed Allah, he throws away the shroud of his previous life and he wears a garment of light. He has reached Allah not as a promise to seek in his future life but as a reality, which he has attained in this very earthly life. Allah the Exalted says in the Holy Quran in Ch. 41: 30
Angels descend on those who say that Allah is One and He possesses every perfect attributes and that He has no partners in His Being and in His attributes and once they have stated this, they remain steadfast; no earthquakes, no calamities, no death threatening situations will make them move away from this belief.

Allah speaks with them and tells them not to fear any calamities, or any enemies and not to grieve over the hardships they have sustained. Allah reassures them that He is with them and He has given them the paradise that was promised to them in this very world and they need to rejoice because of this.
When I was writing these words, the following words came into my mind.
Kaha tha Ahmad se jo khoda ne wo roz wa shab ho raha hai poura

This means, “What Allah said to Ahmad, today it is being fulfilled day and night”. And by the Grace of Allah we are witnessing the accomplishments of these words almost everyday. How many times we have received words of comfort from Allah when we were facing numerous trials. These are the favors of Allah which He gives to whomsoever He wishes. Hazrat Ahmad (as) continued and said:
“These are not declarations without any proof, nor are these promises which have not been fulfilled. There are thousands of persons in Islam who have witnessed the heaven that has been promised in these Quranic verse. Allah has made the true followers of Islam the true successors of past pious men and the favors they had received have been given to the Muslim community.”

I have just read to you an excerpt, which describes the favors that anyone can earn when he follows Islam as his religion. Now I am going to give you two more excerpts, which describes special favors, which are reserved to another category of persons.

THE BLESSINGS OF ISLAM
Hazrat Masih Maoud (as) says:
“It must be clear to you that when a true seeker lives Islam obediently and completely and each of his faculty truly and automatically follows God’s commands then the overall results of his efforts is that Allah sends signs of guidance to him on a larger scale without any intermediary veils. That is to say that this person will directly experience Allah on a higher level. Many kinds of blessings fall on this person. These commands were accepted due to his faith and because it was obligatory on him. But now he starts to experience these commands as realities and certainties through true visions and also through true and clear non-ambiguous revelations, which is without double meanings. He receives revelation on the mystery of the law and faith and he sees signs of the kingdom of Allah, which brings him to a state of certainty and full understanding of Allah’s kingdom. He is blessed in his tongue, his words, and his actions and in whatever he does. He acquires an overwhelming courage and also becomes very patient and has a firm belief and a thorough understanding. Common human weaknesses such as contemptible action, miserliness, short sightedness, easily giving away to one’s passions, contemptible actions and all of his ego centric purposes leaves him completely and he is filled with the divine light of Allah’s attributes. This person then experiences a complete change and he is as if born again. He hears and sees through Allah. His anger becomes Allah’s anger and his compassion becomes Allah’s compassion. In other words, if he is angry with someone, Allah is angry with that person and if he is happy with someone then Allah is also happy with that person. But we need to understand that this kind of a person has no meanness in him. He is someone who has washed himself from all human weaknesses, which may be found in human nature. When someone arrives at this stage Allah listens to his prayers because he is one of the chosen ones, there is no need to test him, since this person becomes a living proof of Allah on earth and he is a sign of Allah’s security. And in heaven there is a joy because of him and the greatest gift that he receives is that Allah’s words descends on his heart beyond any doubt..” [Aina kamalaaté Islam Rohani Khazain Vol5 pp226-233]

I have read to you these extracts so that you may have an idea of what Hazrat Massih Maoud (as) told us about those persons which Islam produced during the last fourteen centuries, those who followed the fundamental teachings of Islam. This is also possible nowadays and this will certainly continue till the day of resurrection, Incha Allah.

Now I will mention to you some extracts where Hazrat Masih Maoud (as) is talking about the living Islam, he says:
“The Shias believe that “wilayat” and “imamat” was reserved only for their twelve imams and after them the door of revelation has been shut for ever. So if we believe in this, all of our teachings are for nothing and we have to agree that Islam is an abandoned and silent house where there is no blessing. If this is true that Allah has shut the door of holiness and guidance in the future, then it is very sad indeed for those who are seeking Allah with a sincere heart; moreover it will seem that they have died while they are still alive. And they will hold in their hands only ancient tales, which will not help them in anyway to acquire the real truth. And if the Shias believe in this dogma, then why do they recite five times daily in their prayers the following: “ihdenas siraatal moustaqim siraatal lazina an’amta alaihim”, which means “Guide us along the straight path, the path of those on whom Thou has bestowed Thy favors
This prayer means “O Allah, Thou art the most powerful, show us the path that brings us closer to Thee, the path of the prophets, of the rightly guided, of those who are true, of the martyrs and those who are pious. So this verse shows us that the path to acquire spiritual guidance is always open and will always be so. I have sent thousand of leaflets in several countries, in order for them to understand this truth. If the path to obtain this blessing is closed then what makes Islam superior? It is indeed true that the twelve imams were perfect human beings, they were leaders but it is indeed wrong to believe that the qualities they had, nobody else will be able to possess. Allah, The Mighty Whose two hands are always open with His Mercy and His Power, will always remain open and if the day comes when Islam will no longer have these blessings then it will surely be the end of time.” (Al Hakam, 10th March1902). You need only to replace Shia by an Ahmadi, you will understand these words better.

Today, O my brothers and sisters of Jamaat Ahmadiyya Al Mouslemeen, you are indeed very lucky, that you are witnesses to the fulfillment of the very words of Hazrat Ahmad (as). Among you now, you have heard someone telling you that Allah has told him that he is an Imam, one who is on the right path and who by Allah’s Grace will guide you on the right path. Allah’s words to me on this subject are numerous but I am not repeating them for now. Do not be afraid of what other persons are saying. Let them say whatever may please them. But according to what Allah has helped me to understand, they will indeed say many bad things about us. They can say what they want, what can they do more than that. Allah has made us understand that we should be very patient and should not fear anyone except Him.

In the end I will share with you two revelations that I received within last week. They are as follows:
Wa la nasberanna ala maa azaitomouna” which means “we will show patience because of the harm that you will do us” and the second one is “Alaa inna awlia Allaho laa khawfoun alaihim wa laahoum yahzanoune”. It means “Surely for Allah’s friends, there is neither fear nor sadness”.

I think that these are the words of consolation that Allah gives to His Servants to comfort them. Let us be grateful for these gifts from Allah and let us show through our own example that we are of those people who are ready to sacrifice everything for Allah’s sake.

Incha Allah, next week we will continue with this topic.

Ameen.
