Jamaat Ahmadiyya al Mouslemeen Friday Sermon of Hazrat Amirul Momeneen Zafrullah Domun |
|
Friday Sermon 22nd February 2008 (Detailed version) After reading the Tashahhud, the Ta’uz and the first chapter of the Holy Quran, Hazrat Amirul Mo’menine Zafrullah Domun said: “Wa iz akhazalla_hu misa_qan nabiyyina lama_ a_taitukum min kita_biw wa hikmatin summa ja_'akum rasu_lum musaddiqul lima_ ma'akum latu'minunna bihi wa latansurunnah(u_), qa_la a'aqrartum wa akhaztum'ala_ za_likum isri, qa_lu_ aqrarna_, qa_la fasyhadu_ wa ana ma'akum minasy sya_hidin(a).” The verse that I have just recited to you is verse 82 or 83 depending on the translation that you are using, of chapter 3, Al Imran of the Holy Quran. This is on of the verses of the Holy Quran from which we can infer without any fear of contradiction that prophets or messengers would continue to come from Allah till the end of time. Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad (as) has spoken about this verse and he has taken this conclusion. The translation of the verse is as follows: “Remember the time when Allah took the covenant of the Prophets saying: " Whatever I give you of the Book and Wisdom then comes to you an Apostle confirming what is with you; you shall believe in him and help him." Allah said: "Do ye agree and take this My Covenant as binding on you?" They said: "We agree." He said: "Then bear witness and I am with you among the witnesses." ” The expression “mithaqan nabiyyine” literally means “the covenant of the prophets”. Its meaning could be the covenant which Allah took with the prophets or it may also mean the covenant which Allah took with the people through the prophets. The latter meaning seems most appropriate when we ponder over it. The fact is that once someone knows that he is the prophet or messenger of Allah, that person will always do his best to carry out all the instructions of Allah. They may make minor lapses but Allah puts them on track quickly. They do not disobey deliberately. However once they are gone and after some time Allah sends someone else as a messenger or prophet to fulfill the teachings of the Book that they were given, it is the people that object to the arrival of the new prophet. However, in this verse, generally speaking there is a standing pact between all those who have received the book – the Jews, the Christians, the Muslims and many others we are not aware of- that if a prophet comes to them, they should accept him and help him. Allah has not said here, that if you hear of the coming of someone from Him, you should adamantly stick to your own teachings and oppose him. On the contrary, Allah says that you should believe in him and help him. This pact so to say was signed by Allah with those entire great personages who are known as prophets on behalf of the people. Usually those who have a sense of honor fulfill the promises that are made by their own common friends and close ones. Now you can imagine how more important should be a pledge or pact taken by the prophets of Allah for their people? When Allah asked the prophets if they accepted that engagement they gave an affirmative reply. These prophets were dead sure that their people would fulfill such a covenant, but history is our witness that that has not always been the case. Unfortunately most people, in their blinding ignorance and arrogance have not honored the engagement that the prophets took on their behalf. That is the reason why whenever someone came and declared that he is from Allah, they told him: “we reject what you have brought”. The people of the past always opposed those who came from Allah and the same is the situation of people of this age. And here I am referring to the Ahmadis in particular. They are trampling on the teachings of Hazrat Mohammad (saw) and that of the Promised Messiah (as). In our previous sermons we have profusely quoted from the writings of Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad (as), the Founder of Jamaat Ahmadiyya International where he has told us in very clear terms that we should expect people coming from Allah till the end of time. He went so far as to say that without the arrival of these people Islam will die. As a prophet and messenger of Allah, in total obedience to the Holy Prophet Mohammad (saw) and one who has not brought any new law, but one who came to teach the people the true meaning of Islam, this pact applied to him also. He was one of the prophets who came to fulfill that which was given to the Muslims in the Holy Quran. And he himself has told his Jamaat that they should expect other people like him to appear in the future. But today unfortunately the leaders of the Jamaat , here and abroad continue to tell the majority of Ahmadis who are unaware of the true teachings of Hazrat Ahmad (as) that the caliph is quite enough to provide for all the spiritual needs of the members. Consequently there is no need for anyone to come from Allah. They even aver that if there would be any need for someone to come it would be the caliph himself. We can forgive these false statements if they were made through ignorance and without knowing of the proper facts. However if these statements are being made only to pervert the facts and to hide what is true , then that would be an additional argument which proves that the system is already corrupt and needs to be replaced. And who knows the corruption of the heart more than Allah? He is well aware of what is being said in the Ahmadiyya power circles. He knows that the leaders are not teaching the things that were given to them. They have thrown the teachings of the Holy Quran behind their back as the Jews did before. They are violating the engagement that the Holy Prophet Mohammad (saw) and Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad (as) took on their behalf. They are denying the favours of Allah and they prefer to follow their own desires. They do not love the Truth and they prefer that which is false. They are not ready to engage in a constructive dialogue that might dissipate doubts, misgivings and misunderstandings and eventually correct the mistakes. They prefer to insist on their ignorance and they do not want to hear at all about a wisdom that might illumine them. What a pity and what a perversion of the teachings of Allah and his prophets! When the Amir Jamaat of Mauritius comes to tell you
that if Allah had to choose someone, that person should be the present
caliph, I think that as a leader he should not have fallen so low. You
know of the proverb “fools rush in where angels fear to
tread”. The Amir opens his mouth to show the depth of
his ignorance in spiritual matters. Is not what he is saying, which
is nothing but a repetition of what his chiefs abroad have said, the
same words that the disbelievers of Mecca said at the time of the Holy
Prophet (saw)? “Why has not this Quran been sent to some great man of the two towns? Ch.43: v.32 More often than not people always think because of
their ignorance and stupidity that they know better than Allah. And
yet if they read their Holy Quran, they would have known that Allah
has said: These verses are self explanatory. They do not need
any additional explanations. Think about this verse so that you might
know how the Amir of the Jamaat in Mauritius and those who think like
him ignore the real teachings of the Holy Quran. Allah says: By the grace of Allah, I am speaking with the Holy Quran. I will appreciate and be grateful of our brothers-opponents would do the same and enlighten us on their point of view. As I said previously it is almost natural to refuse to accept what is new. This is more so when the new thing would disturb what is known in psychology as our comfort zone. We dislike what breaks our routine. Most people dislike accepting what is true even if they know it to be true. The main reason for this is that they will have to change if they accept the truth. But people dislike change. Here if we take the example of Jamaat Ahmadiyya again, the majority of the Ahmadis are unaware of the real teachings of Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad (as). They are not to be blamed for that. Most of the books of the Promised Messiah are written in the Urdu language and therefore they are inaccessible to non-Urdu speaking Ahmadis. Few books have been translated into the English language. There are many extracts which have been translated but they are selections and hence do not give the complete picture. Similarly there are very few translations in French. Therefore an Ahmadi knows what he knows only from Friday sermons and the numerous speeches that he listens to in his lifetime. The majority accept what they are told and do not dare to question anything because they trust their leader who is also a caliph. Therefore, they do their best to do as they are told and they derive a great pride in the fact they are following a caliph whom they consider to be the representative of Allah on earth. They belong to the Jamaat and they have a caliph. That is quite sufficient for them because they think that is the whole that one needs to know and do to fulfill the aim of one’s life. But even from a cursory reading of the Holy Quran, we know that is not at all the truth. If one is an Ahmadi-Muslim, one should be ready for a life of trial, of strife and of sacrifice, of prayer, of devotion, of study and practice, of struggle with the self that is prone to sin. How many Ahmadis are ready for this kind of life? Very few indeed! So joining the Jamaat Ahmadiyya Al Mouslemine means leaving the life that we have been leading up till now and embarking on a long journey of self purification, of self denial, of devotion and sacrifice and the practice of what is good. I know that many Ahmadis would find this to be quite difficult to do. But it may seem difficult, but Allah has made it difficult for you because in conformity with His Promise he has sent you some one to teach you a path that most of you are not aware of. And to make that path easy for you Allah has put me here. Allah has gratified me with special favours of which you are unaware and which I would like to share with you. I have been explaining to all Ahmadis around the world what I am here for but few have responded. I have even said that since you think that what I am saying is wrong, I asked you to counter my arguments. If you think you still have as mission to save the world, save me and all those with me by refuting with cogent arguments what we are saying. But none of you have dared up till now. And may be that is why the day before yesterday Allah revealed to me the following verse: “Sanulqi fi qulu_bil lazina kafarur ru'ba bima_ asyraku_ billa_hi ma_ lam yunazzil bihi sulta_na” The translation is as follows: In the Holy Quran the verse continues and it says “wa ma'wa_humun na_r(u), wa bi'sa maswaz za_limin(a).” The translation is “their abode will be the fire; and evil is the home of the wrong-doers!” Most Ahmadis would tell you that they do not practice Shirk, that is, they do not associate partners with Allah. But who can know this but Allah who knows the innermost secrets of the heart? Many think that they are purified but they are not. You may say the same thing to me. But Allah keeps giving me revelations almost every day as He spoke with Hazrat Masih Maood (as). And if you want to know why I am saying that by Allah’s Grace we are on the right path, come to enquire what we are saying. But if you are not coming, there may be many reasons for this. It is possible that you may be saying that Zafrullah Domun is raving, or he wanted power so he created a Jamaat, or he has a rebellious nature, it is in his blood and that of his brothers. If for any of the reasons that I have just mentioned you are not coming to enquire, I say you may be forgiven although you might not be right. But if the real reason is that you are not coming to enquire because you have been told not to come by the caliph or any of his representatives, then I think that you are practicing an association of partners with Allah for which He sent down no authority. As quoted above, the consequences will be very bad indeed if you do not take heed on time. In my past sermons I quoted some verses of the Holy
Quran to show how evil will be the consequences of those who follow
their leaders blindly. I will give you some more verses now about this
subject. “The Unbelievers say: "We shall
neither believe in this scripture nor in (any) that (came) before it."
Couldst thou but see when the wrong-doers will be made to stand before
their Lord throwing back the word (of blame) on one another! Those who
were deemed weak will say to the arrogant ones: "Had it not been
for you we should certainly have been believers!" These verses are very explicit. There is no need to comment upon them. If you open your eyes, you will see what has been mentioned here happening in front of you. These are the words of Allah. You may check them if you like and read the commentaries also so that Allah may give you understanding. Remember well that the blind cannot lead those who see. It is always the other way round. I am doing my best to warn all Ahmadis of the dangers in which they are vis à vis Allah. There is still time to do good and to change the course. May Allah help you to understand my words and may you be bold enough to free yourselves of the chains that are binding you. On Sunday last Allah said to me “Wallazina
jaahadou fina, la nahdiyyannahoum sobolana” which
means “those who strive in Us, We guide them to Our Path”.
This is a verse that was revealed to Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad (as)
several times. Allah confirms this message to this humble servant to
continue to strive in His path. Those who do so would be eventually
guided to Allah incha Allah.
